Nadine Ijaz, RHN, RH(AHG) MSc (Cand)


Nadine Ijaz is a Nutritionist, Registered Herbalist and Shiatsu Therapist with a passion for wholesome food. She began teaching at the Vancouver branch of CSNN in 2000, and is delighted to be an instructor a the Nanaimo branch. In addition to maintaining a private clinical practice in Shawnigan Lake, Nadine currently instructs in the Phytotherapy and Community Herbalist Programs at Pacific Rim College in Victoria. Nadine previously worked as the staff Nutritionist at InspireHealth, an integrated cancer care centre in Vancouver; and continues to privately run lay- and professional-level trainings in all areas of her work.

Nadine's therapeutic approach integrates Traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic diagnostics alongside contemporary biomedical perspectives. She emphasizes traditional perspectives on food and herbs, incorporating spiritual insights while considering health's social and ecological determinants. In addition to her professional work, Nadine is a social and ecological justice activist focusing on food sovereignty/food freedom issues in Canada, as well as on increasing access to herbal medicine care for low-income people.

Nadine's education includes an interdisciplinary degree from McMaster University; formal training at 2 colleges of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sourcepoint Shiatsu Centre, and East-West School of Herbology (under Michael and Lesley Tierra); as well as an extended internship/apprenticeship with Paul Pitchford, author of Healing with Whole Foods. Nadine has also completed several courses with such important practitioners as Donald Yance (Herbal Medicine, Healing and Cancer) and shiatsu master Tetsuro Saito. She has been a professional member of the American Herbalists' Guild for several years, and is in the final stages of completing her M.Sc degree in Herbal Medicine through the University of Wales. Nadine currently teaches Fundamentals of Nutrition, Symptomatology I and II, and Nutritional Literature Research.

Julia O’Loughlin, R.H.N., Registered Holistic Nutritionist (2009)

Julia is a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and graduate of the University of Victoria, where she studied the roles of women in health, food and farming. As an R.H.N., Julia has worked in her private practice to help her clients towards a realization of their best with an individual approach to balance and wellness through optimal nutrition. She is also the facilitator of a youth program called Earth Bites and works with over 200 elementary school youth year round to educate them on healthy eating practices, cooking, gardening and sustainability. Julia has a keen interest in applying theories and practices of holistic nutrition to prevention of, and recovery from, addictions. Julia presently lives on the lower mainland and teaches at CSNN Vancouver, and will be travelling to CSNN Nanaimo as an instructor of Body Mind Spirit, and Alternative and Comparative Diets.

PATRICIA WOLFE, ND


Dr. Wolfe was executive director & president of the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine (BINM), Western Canada’s only accredited school of naturopathic medicine,(2002 -09) as well as acting CEO (2010-11). As president emeritus, she continues to serve BINM as a member of the faculty, the Board of Governors and of various committees. In addition to maintaining a busy private naturopathic practice for over 20 years, Dr. Pat served as assistant executive director (1992-96) for a United Cerebral Palsy agency and as consultant for the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Wolfe obtained her ND in 1987 from the Ontario (now Canadian) College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, where she later held the positions of research director and supervisor in the teaching clinic (1988-1990). Dr. Pat is passionate about holistic medicine and the importance of attending to one’s personal journey for optimal healing to occur. She presently teaches Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry and Pathology at CSNN Nanaimo.

 

Tobi Jane Panter , AHG, R. Ac.

Tobi has a vitalist-based natural health care practice for adults, parents and elders in the Cowichan area of Vancouver Island. She works with her clients to effectuate shifts towards better health at the physical energetic, mental and spiritual levels. Her treatments incorporate energy work (acupuncture/acupressure), nutritional and herbal counseling, guided mindfulness (Hakomi) and other related therapies.

Tobi is registered as a herbalist (AHG) and acupuncturist, and is certified in Hakomi mindfulness therapy and Jin Shin Do acupressure. She has also completed all the coursework for the RHN program at CSNN.
Tobi currently teaches Preventive Nutrition, Body Mind Spirit II, and Allergies at CSNN Nanaimo

Dona Bradley, Registered Holistic Nutritionist


Dona has been assisting people to make wise food and supplement choices for over 30 years through her natural foods market, whole foods restaurant, through her consulting practice on Gabriola Island, as a nutritionist at Inspire Health, and now as owner/manager of Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in Nanaimo. She passionately believes in the power of whole foods to help heal and balance the body and prevent disease. Dona loves the opportunity to educate her students and clients about the healing power of foods and how to prepare them simply for optimum flavour and nutrition. She co-owned an organic farm in Delta, where she lived with her husband and 2 daughters for 20 years, and now resides on Gabriola Island. Dona has been an instructor at CSNN Vancouver for 8 years, and currently teaches Fundamentals of Nutrition, Symptomatology, Lifecycles Nutrition and Eco-nutrition in Nanaimo.

Golnaz Rezaei BSc, MSc , R.H.N.


Golnaz attended UBC where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutritional Science, and her Masters of Food Science. She has since earned her Registered Holistic Nutritionist Diploma from CSNN Vancouver. She has worked as a nutritional consultant in a doctors office, worked as a team leader and assistant manager in the private food industry in Vancouver as well as research in food. In Nanaimo she will be teaching Cellular Biology, Nutritional Literature Research and lecturing on hormone balancing.
